Grab Your Bags! -- Bagnesia review & giveaway

Friday, December 18, 2009

Have you been using reusable bags instead of plastic bags? If not, then you SHOULD! Because plastic bags are not bio-degradable, they loaded landfills and plastic bags are light and can blow in the wind. They fly into trees and into wildlife habitat. Animals can consume these plastics and perish. So plastic bags are a deadly killer to wildlife. Over 100,000 marine animals are also killed each year from plastic bags. Sea turtles, water birds, and other creatures mistake them for food or become entangled in them. In some parts of the ocean, there are six pounds of plastic for every pound of plankton.

We surely don't want this!

I have been using reusable bags since a couple of months ago. But as much as I love using reusable bags I always seem to forget to bring them to the store. There are times when me and hubby went to the grocery store only to find that we forgot to bring the reusable bags! Or it could also happen like this: when I went out I usually bring one of the reusable bags i had and throw it to the bag I'm carrying that day because...well I'm kind of an impulsive buyer so i'll never know when I would impulsively stopped by at a store ^o^. Anyway, this will sometimes be a problem because I have a couple of bags which I use daily and when I change bags I usually forget to move the reusable bag from one bag to another.

And then one day I got contacted by Caprice Ericson from Bagnesia which offer me to try the Reusable Bags Reminder Kit. I thought it's brilliant! How many of us seems to have always forgotten to bring our reusable bags? I'm sure it happened to many of you my dear lovely readers... (or like Caprice called it: "reusable bag amnesia") ^o^

I love the name of the company: "Bagnesia". It was created by bestfriends Pam Eatrides and Caprice Ericson who like us sometimes forgot to bring their reusable bags. Check out the website, i like it. The design is cute and simple, and very user-friendly. Their Reusable Bag Reminder Kit comes with simple, effective products to help people remember their reusable bags every time they shop and it even comes with a high quality, stylish, washable bag that rolls up smaller than a cell phone. This I agree. I received the kit for review and I've noticed that the quality is unquestionable.

The Reusable Bags reminder Kit is a simple, effective reminders that work together with a great compact bag so you always remember to grab your reusable bags and take them into the store! Attractively packaged inside a Bagnesia storage pouch are: a Bagnesia reusable bag, a Mini clip, a Door hanger, a Steering wheel wrap.

I love the simple blue text on black background design. The reusable bag is the first thing I fall in love with. It's made from lightweight washable nylon yet very sturdy and could hold up to 40 lbs, water-resistant and (my favorite part) it has an elastic band attached to it so when rolled-up it would fit into small spaces such as my purse. I love that the band is elastic instead of a snap-on button. I love the shape of the bag too, i've tried it by taking it to a store near me and it could hold up many items equivalent to 2 or 3 plastic bags.

The interesting part is the reminder kit; it comes in the shape of a cute laminated door hanger and a flexible black neoprene steering wheel wrap with the words "Grab Your Bags" on each of them. When I first saw them i thought "this is what we need!" so there'll be no more reusable bag amnesia ;p

Hubby was as ecstatic as I am when he saw the kit. He also love the drawstring carrying pouch that the kit came with because we can put all of our reusable bags inside it so we only need to carry that one pouch. He also love the mini clip that came attached to the bag. That makes it even more easier to carry, we can clip it to our bag or even to our belt loops.

Aside from the reminder kit I also received their set of 4 Reusable Produce Bags which is also a big hit on their website. The Reusable Produce bags main function is to eliminate those annoying little throwaway plastic produce bags you get at the store. This is also the answer of our problem because not all companies who sell reusable bags also sell produce bags. But with Bagnesia, you get it all in one place. The reusable produce bags comes in a pretty green shade. You can weigh, wash and store your produce all in one convenient bag. Me and hubby love these produce bags, they're such a very useful addition to the reusable bags.

We think Bagnesia is a brilliant concept, their products comes in great quality and the Reusable Bags Reminder Kit is really useful! I attached the Door hanger reminder on my door knob so every time i go out I will see the reminder. I also put the pouch near my bags so every time I reached for my bag i would see the pouch and remember to bring the reusable bag with me. And if that doesn't enough hubby also put the steering wheel wrap on our vehicle to make sure we don't forget and left our reusable bags in the vehicle. And whenever I just want to drop by a store near our house for a couple of things I just bring the reusable bag and use the clip to attach it to my purse strap and bring nothing else :D

Snack TAXI review & giveaway

Thursday, December 17, 2009

In order to save some money (we're savin' it to pay the bills and credit cards - gasp!) sometimes I packed lunch or dinner for my husband. He works in shift so sometimes i packed him lunch if he gets the morning shift or I packed him dinner if he works the late shift. He rides his motorcycle to work so a lunch box is not really convenient to him as he could only carry a medium backpack when riding his motorcycle and a lunch box is too bulky. So one of the option is to bring him something smaller like a ziplock bag with sandwiches or bread inside. But I actually hate to use ziplock bags because well...they're plastic. And i've been trying to cut plastic usage in my household in order to live in a more earth-friendly environment.

And then I came across Snack Taxi, a brilliant invention from Erin Kelly-Dill.
Snack Taxis are reusable bags for snacks and sandwiches. Erin invented snackTaxis in 2003 as a way to stem the tide of plastic ziplock bags that flowed from her house to the landfill when her 3 kids started school. She pack over 500 lunches every year and had definitely fallen prey to the easy appeal of the ziplock bags. She then made snackTaxis to replace the use of plastic baggies.

I'm very thankful to be able to receive a set of SnackTaxis. And even more excited to learn that SnackTaxi were featured on Oprah! So that means this product is uber-cool, right?
I received a set of one sandwich sacks and one snack sacks. The presentation is great and the first thing I noticed is the quality of the fabric used. You can tell just by looking at it that the quality is really good. The craftsmanship is very neat and it has a clean look to it.
The exterior of a snackTAXI is comprised of 100% cotton. And then they are lined with a waterproof material that consists of nylon with a polyurethane coating. The nylon is free of heavy metals (including lead), phthalates, PBBs, and PBDEs.

Look at it, isn't it perfect for an earth-friendly gift or stocking stuffer option? ;p

Snack taxis are a great alternative to plastic bags. I have been using it to pack sandwiches and breads for hubby. I have also been in a short weekend holiday a couple of weeks back and the smaller size snack bag is really useful, I used it to pack our favorite snacks which is Chitato potato chips and Pringles so we can munch on it in the car during the trip. I even used it to sneak some crackers and chips when we went to the cinema to watch movies (here in my country you're not allowed to bring food or drinks from outside the cinema) but with the help of snackTaxis now I can bring my own snacks ^o^

SnackTAXI have many options of fabric patterns to choose from, and i mean MANY. There is a pattern for every one in your household. And they add new fabrics every month!
They also sell produce sacks, lunch sacks and cute napkins. They also offer discount if you buy in big volume (starting from 12 sacks and up).

Things I love about SnackTaxi are : They made of fabric instead of plastic, they are waterproof, they come in many cute designs, their size is perfect and the fact that they are easy to clean. If it gets dirty then you can just wash them. You can machine washed and dried them or simply rinsed with water and air dried. And as with anything that gets washed, they will last longer with hand washing and air drying, but they are quite durable any way you wash them!

Piggy Paint review & giveaway

A couple of weeks ago, around the end of last month, my niece was having her birthday. And what a good coincidence because that week I received a package from Piggy Paint to be reviewed! I've been reading all the rave about Piggy Paint on other blogs so I had to try it myself and see what's the rave is all about.

Piggy Paint is a non-toxic fingernail-polish design especially for little girls (and for grown-ups alike ;p). Their slogan, "Natural as Mud" is really true. Piggy Paint nail polish is a mixture of water and other natural ingredients. It is specially formulated from God's natural ingredients. There are no toxic chemicals, free of formaldehyde, toluene, phtalates, Bisphenol A, ethyl acetate and acetone. So it's really SAFE for your little princesses.

So when my niece came to my house I gave her the nail polish set and asked her to play "nail painting" with me ^o^ When she saw the bottles she was smiling widely at the cute pink blushing piggy on the labels (well, I smiled widely too when I first saw the bottles ;p). I received one bottle of polish remover and one bottle of nail polish in Forever Fancy, which is a sparkly bright pink. We really love the color! It dries to a hard and durable finish and the deep pink color is not too bright nor it is too light, it's just perfect, it even has a little shine to it which I love :D

I explain to my cousin (which is my niece's mom) who at first a bit worried when I give the Piggy Paint nail polish to her daughter, she's afraid that it would make a mess and that it would contain chemicals just like ordinary nail polish. But I explained to her that Piggy Paint is not only Non-Toxic but it's also Hypo-allergenic and it's made of water-based formula. It even has low-odor! You know how annoying nail-polish odor are, it smells really "chemical" but don't worry, you won't find it in Piggy Paint.

The Polish Remover is also made from natural ingredients, no acetone and is hypoallergenic and biodegradable. It has no odor too! They even added Aloe-Vera and Vitamin E to it to supplement the natural oils that protect little one's nails and cuticles. The bottle also came with a special cap so that it won't spill easily if used by children.

And there's no time for any messiness too because it dries quickly. It only took 60 seconds of air dry. Unfortunately my niece is the very shy type of girl so she won't let me took any pictures of her wearing the nail polish, but I'm no shy (;p) so I took my fingernail's picture instead ^o^

So, my review is a success. I recommend this product to every mother out there who wants to "play girly" with their daughters. Why don't you give your little daughter some Piggy Paints nail polishes this holiday season? they have many fun vibrant colors to choose from. And they ship worldwide!

SWEET DEALS:
  • Piggy Paint offers 15% Off, exclusive to Tigerlily's Book readers. It could be used on anything from their website including Sale items! Here's the code: "TIGERLILY15L". This offer only valid until Feb 28, 2010 so buy your stocking stuffer and gifts there ;p

Pulse Yoga Review & Giveaway

Monday, December 14, 2009

I don't really like sports or work-out, except for YOGA. I've always love yoga! I took my first yoga class when I was in college and after that I just do yoga at home with the help of some yoga DVDs. I love doing yoga at home and I tried to get my family to do yoga too (well at least my brother is now a believer while hubby is still a bit hesitant). But with the pack of DVDs that I received from Pulse Yoga a couple of weeks ago I'm hoping that hubby will get to like yoga as well ;)

First of all, I love the concept of Pulse Yoga which combine basic yoga routines with free weights and micro-movements within yoga postures to define, sculpt and tone the upper body, abdominal and gluteus muscles.

Second of all, to know more about Pulse Yoga let's meet the founder Argie Tang and Co-founder Prisca Boris:
Argie
has taught over 15,000 yoga classes and has developed yoga programs for schools, corporations, hospitals and television. Argie became certified as a fitness instructor at The University of California, Los Angles and began applying yoga principles and postures to athletic training programs. She developed a fitness system called "Y4A" which she has taught to a range of athletes from the elite level Olympian to recreational weekend warrior.

While Prisca is an avid outdoorswoman, she began practicing yoga in 1993 to balance the effects of her rigorous sporting activities. In 1996, Prisca met Argie Tang and helped to launch the "Y4A" Fitness System. She conducts yoga classes in Vail and is an integral part of the Y4A Teacher Training Programs.

Now let's ask Argie Tang about Pulse Yoga:
Pulse Yoga is a result of my personal quest to find yoga routines that accomplish much more than other yoga styles. A few years ago I was diagnosed with osteopenia. The doctor told me that I needed to do some sort of weight training program. I have never really liked working out in a gym, always preferring yoga, so I decided to incorporate free weights into my yoga routines. As a woman in my 50's, I also wanted more toning, strengthening and increased muscle definition. So, in addition to the free weights, I added micro movements that primarily target areas such as the gluteus muscles, abdominals, upper arms and lower back. These micro movements within the yoga postures are highly effective with results that are noticeable immediately.

With that in mind, I can't wait to try my DVD set! I received a pack of 4 DVDs from Pulse Yoga:
Pulse Yoga I (Basic)
Pulse Yoga II (Balance&Tone)
Pulse Yoga III (Stamina&Strength)
Pulse Yoga Express

So far, I've tried the Pulse Yoga I and the Pulse Yoga Express. I thought I want to really master the Pulse Yoga Basic first before I went to Pulse Yoga II. I love incorporating free weights into yoga postures because it would just add more benefits to our body. I love the easy and clear instructions from Argie and if you're a beginner at yoga and couldn't follow Argie's move then you could just follow Prisca's move which is less rigorous, perfect for beginner. I also love the background which is a very pretty beach (Punta Minta if I was not mistaken). Most of the postures are quite easy too so my hubby who is a beginner at yoga could follow too.

The Pulse Yoga I is a 60-minute work-out video that incorporates Pilates, weight training and yoga to build strength, stamina and power. You will enjoy it just like I did and at the end you will be sweating and feels so healthy and recharged. I like doing it in the morning as well as in the afternoon.

The Pulse Yoga Express is a 30-minute version, the postures ranging from easy to quite challenging but not too hard. You will absolutely feel refreshed afterward, but it won't took your breath out like if you did aerobics. This is great if you only have 30 minutes to work-out. I can't wait to try Pulse Yoga II & III to complete my work-out. I watched Pulse Yoga II DVD and I can't wait to try the balance & tone postures. I'm planning to do it this Wednesday ^__^

So if you're looking for a combined sports that would benefit your body more than a regular work-out why don't you try out Pulse Yoga? It's a great new concept and according to Argie, it is possible to combine completely different exercise philosophies to get the most out of your workout. Pulse Yoga website also sell yoga outfits such as yoga pants, tanks, etc..

SWEET DEALS:
SAVE $9.98 if you purchase PULSE YOGA DVD SET (Includes 3 volumes from the Pulse Yoga Series).

And now to the GIVEAWAY!
Prisca from Pulse Yoga has kindly offer one of TB readers a Free Pulse Yoga II DVD. Balance in motion are emphasized here by connecting standing balancing postures in order to master control over the body in any position.

Save Your World Review & Giveaway - CLOSED -

Thursday, December 3, 2009

Hey readers, how have you been doing? I hope you had a great time last holiday. Anyway, I'm really excited to tell you guys about this one company who I admire and adore! It's a very awesome company called Save Your World.

Save Your World is a team of family and friends who share intense passion and integrity for preserving the world's pristine natural resources. They are so committed to that mission they actually build a business around it
.
Their online store has a conservation mission which I think is such a great concept. They sell personal care products such as Shampoo, Soaps, Lip Balms, etc.. but they only have All-Natural and Organics products at their store.

"We are so committed to this mission that we are building a sustainable and transparent business around our conservation objectives.."

Save Your World are very dedicated to support their conservation mission, beside the fact that their products are all natural and organic the products are sourced in a fair-trade manner too, with premium quality ingredients. They also swear that no animal-by-products will ever be used and no testing on animals will ever be done. Raw materials will be biodegradable and packaging will be of recycled or recyclable materials. All of their products are paraben-free too! What more could you get? I love this company!

For a review they sent me some products which I absolutely love!

They sent me 2 of their lip balms, the Green Tea and The Grapefruit Mango. The lip balms are made with natural ingredients that are rich in moisturizing properties like coconut, safflower oil and mango butter, this formula includes antioxidants such as Vitamin A, C and E for added protection for your lips.
The Green Tea flavor is a mix of palmarosa, lemongrass, clary, basil, coriander fruit and caraway fruit which result in a subtle flavor which is perfect if you don't like flavored lip balm. While the Grapefruit Mango has a more sweet flavor to it because of the orange, grapefruit peel, mandarin orange, ginger root, and tangerine leaf mix. The flavor is fresh and sweet on my lips, it's been my everyday lip balm now.

Overall, I love the non-greasy formula and the flavor is not overwhelming too. It really moisturize and nourish my lips so well I no longer have dry un-attractive lips. Love it!

I was also sent a sample of their Shampoo and Conditioner. They have 4 great aromas which are: Oasis fruit, Regal Blossom, Pure mist and Rain Forest. I was sent the Rainforest. Of all the product samples they sent me, I love these stuffs the most! The shampoo and conditioner is not like my usual shampoo. Because of the natural ingredients and unique blend, the formula really replenish moisture leaving my hair squeaky clean! I think I never felt that squeaky clean with my usual shampoo, maybe because of all that chemical build-ups which are usually added in the common shampoo. With Save Your World Shampoo and Conditioner, my hair feels so healthy, it shines and it smells great too! I love smelling my hair because the smells really stays!
I like the rainforest scent, when I wash my hair the refreshing blend makes me feel like I'm really showering in the middle of a real rainforest. Okay, so maybe I exaggerate a little but I always have a big imagination so you better believe it :)
I really recommend this shampoo and conditioner. Too bad they only distribute their products in the USA for now. Because if only they cater to international buyers I would have bought the full bottles of this shampoo & conditioner right away :p

One more product that I got to sample is the Regal Blossom Body Lotion. It is packed with lots of moisturizing nutrients such as organic aloe-vera and organic "yerba-mate" which have more anti-oxidants than the famed green tea. Yerba-mate also has lots of nutrients which contribute to overall health benefits. Like all of their products above the body lotion also has a very nice scent, it's more of a sweet, light and subtle scent. No overwhelming scent that makes you cringe. The texture is easy to absorb too, it leaves my skin well-hydrated and silky. It prevent dryness and it leaves my skin smells fresh and clean.

The bottom line is: I love Save Your World products.
Not one product disappoint me.
You should try them too. I highly recommend them.

Do good while you shop:
Their first and ongoing conservation project is a partnership with "Conservation International" to help protect one of the most pristine 200.000 acre rain forests in South America. This project is the basis of their (AWESOME) pledge:

1 PRODUCT = 1 ACRE OF RAINFOREST SAVED FOR 1 YEAR

How bout that? I love companies that give back!
So if you buy one of their product that means you already save 1 acre of rainforest for 1 year! I think it's about time that we give back to our environment, don't you think so too?
They also offers Holiday Gifts right now, you might wanna buy your christmas presents there :D

I did not receive any form of cash for this review and this is written based on my own honest opinion (other people may have different opinions). Save Your World gave me the products to be reviewed but it does not affect my opinion on the products.
